We are seeking a highly skilled Training Advisor to support the Maintenance Department at a large open‑cut coal mine. This subcontractor role suits an experienced training skilled operating under their own ABN who can deliver high‑quality assessments, maintain compliance, and work closely with maintenance leaders to build workforce capability. The position operates on a 7/7 day‑shift‑only roster.

Key Responsibilities

- Develop, maintain, and implement training plans for maintenance personnel
- Conduct competency assessments and Verification of Competency (VOC) activities
- Work with maintenance supervisors to identify training needs and skill gaps
- Maintain accurate, compliant training records and documentation
- Liaise with RTOs, training providers, and internal stakeholders
- Support onboarding and induction processes for maintenance employees and contractors
- Assist with audit preparation and continuous improvement initiatives
- Promote safe work practices and adherence to mine site training standards

Mandatory Skills & Experience

- Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40116 or equivalent)




- Demonstrated experience in mining, heavy industry, or maintenance training environments
- Strong understanding of maintenance roles (fitters, electricians, diesel mechanics, auto‑electricians, etc.)
- Proven ability to conduct competency assessments and VOCs
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently as a subcontractor under your own ABN

Highly Regarded

- Experience with training systems (MyPass, LMS platforms, site training databases)
- Knowledge of Queensland mining legislation and competency frameworks
