24/7 domestic, family and sexual violence counselling, information, and support service. 1800RESPECT provides free, confidential support for people experiencing, or at risk of experiencing, domestic, family, and sexual violence, including workplace sexual harassment. The Service also provides support for friends, family, and professionals.

About the role The Learning and Development team leads onboarding and the ongoing training of all 1800RESPECT staff.

The Training

Specialist builds individual and team capability by delivering high-quality, inclusive learning experiences,

facilitating knowledge transfer across multiple formats, and strengthening core capabilities to support professional standards and the diverse, complex needs of

1800RESPECT service users. What you’ll be doing Facilitation of Learning and Development Design and deliver engaging, trauma-informed training in virtual and face-to-face formats, aligned with adult learning principles and organisational objectives.

Facilitate inclusive learning experiences that support diverse learning styles and a 24/7 operational environment, including sessions outside standard business hours when required.

Monitor learner participation, provide guidance, escalate issues as needed, and use learner feedback and performance data to continuously improve training. Assessment and Observation of Learner Competency Conduct competency assessments aligned with training objectives, evaluating both technical and interpersonal skills.





Observe learner performance in simulated and live environments, including call listening and chat interactions, using structured assessment tools.

Provide constructive feedback and ensure assessments reflect real-world service standards. Coaching and Feedback Deliver timely, learner-centred coaching and feedback that supports professional growth, wellbeing, and competency development.

Assist learners to identify development goals and provide pathways, resources, and mentoring to achieve them. Training, Design and Development Develop and deliver training materials using formal, informal, and scenario-based learning approaches.

Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure content is relevant, evidence-informed, and supports clinical and operational capability.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement Work collaboratively with leaders, clinicians, subject matter experts, and external stakeholders to maintain high-quality, trauma-informed training.

Support workforce planning through training coordination, proactively manage risks, and contribute to a positive team culture and continuous professional development. Administration and Compliance Coordinate training logistics, maintain accurate learning records, and ensure compliance with organisational policies, procedures, KPIs, and regulatory requirements.

Prepare reports and documentation as required. Risk and Quality Management Apply quality improvement and risk management practices to training delivery while fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment.

About you

Tertiary qualification in a clinical or counselling discipline or a similar field.





Certificate IV in Training and Assessment or open to working towards the attainment of the Certificate IV.

Demonstrated experience delivering structured skilled training through multiple channels, including online and face-to-face formats.

Experience working within the DFSV sector or a related field.

Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences.

Strong digital literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and Learning Management System (LMS) platforms and other digital training tools.

Proven ability to manage shifting priorities, demands, and timelines using strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Capacity to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to build relationships, influence, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders across the 1800Respect team.
