Primary Objective

The Assistant Broiler Breeder Manager supports the operational performance, compliance, and continuous improvement of 15 broiler breeder rearing and laying farms. The role ensures production targets are achieved while maintaining high standards of animal welfare, biosecurity, quality assurance, safety, and cost control.

Key Responsibilities

Production Management

Monitor body weight, uniformity, feed and water consumptionReview mortality, culls, egg production and egg qualityAnalyse weekly and monthly production data and implement corrective actionsEnsure management aligns with breed standards and company proceduresBe involved in all flock livestock key activities both for rearing & laying

Leadership and People Development

Provide leadership and coaching to 12 Farm ManagersPromote a culture of safety, welfare and accountabilitySupport recruitment, training and performance managementMonitor labour efficiency and workforce planning

Animal Welfare and Biosecurity

Ensure compliance with welfare standards and industry codesConduct regular farm inspections and welfare assessmentsEnforce strict biosecurity across all sitesInvestigate disease events, elevated mortality or welfare concerns

Quality and Compliance

Ensure compliance with biosecurity,



food safety, environmental and WHS requirementsSupport internal and external audits and close corrective actionsOversee sampling programs including environmental, egg, water and feed testingEnsure correct sample collection, labelling, storage and submissionMaintain accurate records and investigate any adverse resultsEnsure Farm Managers are trained in correct sampling procedures

Cost and Resource Management

Support the monitoring feed usage, labour, utilities and consumablesEnsure the department remains within budgetIdentify efficiency and cost improvement opportunities

Maintenance and Infrastructure

Support preventative maintenance programsIdentify and prioritise repair and capital requirementsEnsure equipment and environmental systems operate effectively

Communication and Reporting

Provide regular performance reports to the Broiler Breeder ManagerFacilitate performance review meetings with Farm ManagersEnsure accurate and timely data reportingLiaise with technical, veterinary, hatchery and feed supplier

Production

Rearing body weight within ±3% of breed standardUniformity at transfer ≥ 80%Hen-day production and chicks/Hen Housed at or above targetMortality within company standards

Welfare and Biosecurity

100% compliance in welfare and biosecurity auditsZero major biosecurity breachesWelfare or disease issues investigated within 24 hours

Quality and Compliance





100% completion of scheduled sampling programsZero missed or late samplesAll adverse results investigated and actions completed within 48 hoursSuccessful completion of all audits

Safety and People

Zero Lost Time Injuries100% completion of required trainingAnnual performance reviews completed

Cost Control

Feed usage within ±2% of standardLabour and operating costs within budget

Skills And Experience

Minimum 5 years poultry production experience (broiler breeder preferred)This is a Senior management position suited to an ambitious person seeking to advance their careerExperience managing multiple sites and teamsStrong knowledge of breeder performance and flock managementUnderstanding of biosecurity, welfare and WHSStrong analytical and communication skillsCurrent driver’s licence
