About the role
Found in 1998 in the heart of Sydney, Australia, MindChamps International Preschool & Early Learning ("MindChamps") is a pathbreaking Preschool and early childhood education with 86 centres operating globally in Singapore, Australia, Philippines, Myanmar, Malaysia, Indonesia and Maldives.
MindChamps Early Learning Hammond Park is seeking a dedicated and passionate Cook to join our team on a full-time/part-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work in an early learning environment where you will play a vital role in providing nutritious, delicious and age-appropriate meals to our children. The Cook will be responsible for food preparation and preparation of the meals according to the MindChamps ChampionGold Nutrition recipes, and also to ensure the highest standards of food safety and hygiene. This position is integral to supporting the health, wellbeing and development of the children in our care through proper nutrition. This role also requires the Cook to be on the floor occasionally as a Certificate 3 educator in ratio.
Key responsibilities
1. Plan, prepare and cook nutritious, balanced meals and snacks suitable for children of varying ages and dietary requirements
2. Maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards in accordance with relevant legislation and best practice guidelines
3. Manage inventory, order supplies and maintain stock of ingredients and food items
4. Accommodate allergies, intolerances and dietary preferences, ensuring safe meal preparation for all children
5. Collaborate with educators and management to ensure meals meet the nutritional needs and dietary requirements of the children
6. Maintain a clean, organised and well-stocked kitchen environment
7. Follow all food preparation procedures and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations including the MindChamps ChampionGold Nutrition standards
8. Keep accurate records of meals prepared and dietary information as required
9. Support special events and functions organised by the service
10. Provides occasional support on the floor as a Certificate 3 educator in ratio
What we're looking for
1. Qualifications in food safety supervisor, food handling, food safety and/or culinary training
2. Preferance to have certificate 3 in Early Childhood Education and Care
3. Current First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
4. Knowledge of nutrition for children and understanding of developmental dietary needs
5. Experience in working in a food preparation environment, preferably in hospitality or childcare settings
6. Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prepare multiple meals efficiently
7. Excellent understanding of food safety, hygiene and allergen management practices
8. Ability to work collaboratively with educators and management in a team environment
9. Flexibility and adaptability to changing menus and dietary requirements
10. A genuine passion for contributing to the wellbeing and development of children
11. A valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) for employment
