A hands-on senior finance role in a growing family-owned property investment business, with a genuine pathway to Head of Finance over time.
About AGEMAGEM Property Group is a privately owned, locally based Western Australian commercial property investment funds manager creating long-term wealth and stability for families. We provide wholesale investors with opportunities to co-invest in high-quality commercial property assets ($10 - $50m), ranging from suburban shopping centres to childcare facilities, large format retail, medical centres and veterinary hospitals, delivering passive income and capital growth.
We are a smaller, entrepreneurial funds management business with significant growth plans, which means this role offers genuine scope to shape the department, build capability and help grow it over time. As a privately owned, locally based WA business, we work closely with our investors, assets and market, and we co-invest in every property alongside our investors.
The OpportunityWe are looking for a Senior Accountant / Senior Finance Manager to help lead the finance function across AGEM’s operating businesses, property unit trusts and related entities. This is not a traditional CFO, Finance Director or fully formed Head of Finance role. It is a hands-on senior finance role for someone who is technically strong, commercially minded, shows leadership qualities and is willing to be coached into a broader finance leadership role over time. The role will lead a small internal finance team of approximately one to two people, including the Senior Fund Accountant, with additional support from an external bookkeeper, external accountants and advisers. You do not need to know every detail of property unit trusts on day one. More important is strong accounting fundamentals, clear communication, commercial judgement and the willingness to learn how AGEM’s property unit trusts operate while working alongside experienced internal and external specialists. For the right person,
this is a genuine chance to grow with AGEM, develop as a person and be coached into a future Head of Finance role as the business continues to scale.

Its focus is the quality, accuracy and reliability of the financial information that supports those areas.
You’ll love it here if you:· - Value relationships and enjoy working with people, not just numbers.· Do the right thing and take compliance, accuracy and trust seriously.· Decide with confidence by bringing clear information, risks and recommendations.· Adapt fast and like improving systems, reporting and processes as a business grows.
Key Responsibilities· Lead and manage a small finance department, including the Senior Property Accountant.· Provide strong accounting judgement across AGEM’s operating business, property unit trusts and related entities.· Oversee accurate, timely and useful financial reporting.· Review trust accounts,
property reports, financial statements and external accountant workpapers.· Ensure property unit trusts are accounted for correctly, reported correctly and compliant with accounting and taxation requirements.· Review GST treatment, BAS preparation, taxation positions and compliance matters.· Support budgeting, forecasting, cashflow planning and management reporting.· Strengthen reconciliations, review processes, reporting rhythms, documentation and financial controls.· Support business decision making through accurate numbers, clear analysis and practical recommendations.· Look for practical ways to use technology, dashboards, automation and process improvements to save time and improve the quality of financial information.· Bring the ownership, communication and judgement needed to grow into a broader finance leadership role over time.
