Synergie Australia is seeking long term contract staff to start in the Recent Year to help the national Electric Ant Eradication Program
The important parts:
- Location: Cairns, QLD
- Start date: Late August 2026 - contract until February 2027 with possible extension
- Rate: $56 - 60 p/h plus super - Casual rate
- APS5 – Level 1: Airport Location
- Must have Australian work rights and be a permanent resident (Working Holiday Visa holders need not apply)
- Must have a C class license and be able to pass a Criminal History check and pre-employment medical
What you will be required to do:
- Provide specialist fruit fly entomology diagnostic services to support surveillance and response activities;
- Contribute to improvements in the capture, management,
analysis and reporting of surveillance and diagnostic information;
- Collaborate with data specialists to improve the organisation, accessibility and searchability of fruit fly information and datasets;
- Contribute to the development of business requirements for fruit fly data management, reporting and information systems; and
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to support surveillance activities, information sharing and program delivery.
To be successful in these roles you must have:
- Experience collaborating and working within a scientific environment and hold practical field skills
- Qualifications relevant to Entomology (eg Bachelor of Science)
- Experience working within a laboratory and performing data analysis
- An understanding of Biosecurity protocols
