About the Prospect: We are seeking a dedicated Hostel Manager to join our PALM Scheme management team in Bundaberg. As the sucessful candidate, you will manage hostel operations and play a pivotal role in the care and support of our PALM Scheme residents.
Your responsibilities will involve working from your Farmgate Bundaberg office and sometimes from home. You will be the key communication link between our business, the host farms and the PALM workers, ensuring their health, safety, and an overall positive experience throughout the season.
About the Role: You will have both autonomy and suppcort to provide our residents with the best possible experience during their stay. As the senior person on-site, you will supervise cleaning and maintenance staff, coordinate work transport, work shifts and ensure the smooth running of the hostel.
This role is not always limited to traditional office hours, as resident issues can arise at any time. You must therefore be available for after hours calls and be willing to provide advice over the phone, sometimes on weekends. There is flexibility in this role to be either full-time or casual. The position can be customised either way for the right candidate.
Duties Will Include:
- Overall supervision of hostel operations for up to 100 residents
- Collaborating with farms to roster worker's shifts and work transport
- Completing welfare and well-being checks where required
- Providing support for attendance at doctors' and hospital appointments, both routine and during emergencies
- Coordinating hostel arrivals and departures
- Participating in regular team meetings, completing meeting records, and reporting
- Assisting workers with community orientation to help them become familiar with the area and available services
- Responding to incidents as required
About You: You don't need specific job experience in this role - just great life experience! We will provide all the training. We are simply looking for a compassionate and responsible individual with the following qualities:
- A valid driver's licence and your own reliable vehicle
- Energetic, fit and a good sense of humour
- Great communication skills including negotiation, problem solving, advocacy and conflict resolution skills
- A hands-on attitude and enjoys working with a close-knit team
- The ability to handle sensitive information with a high degree of integrity
- The ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds
- Good literacy and computer skills
- Workplace Health and safety awareness, or a willingness to learn
- Flexibility to respond to out-of-hours calls and worker welfare concerns and issues, including on-call availability
