Irons Auto Repairs is seeking an experienced and dedicated Mechanic to join our team in Townsend, NSW. This is a full-time position offering the opportunity to work on a diverse range of vehicles and provide high-quality automotive repair and maintenance services to our valued customers. As a key member of our workshop, you will play a vital role in maintaining our reputation for excellence and ensuring customer satisfaction through your technical expertise and professionalism.
Key responsibilities
- Diagnose vehicle faults and mechanical issues using diagnostic tools and technical expertise
- Perform routine maintenance services including oil changes, filter replacements, fluid top-ups and general inspections
- Conduct repairs to engines, transmissions, braking systems, suspension and electrical components
- Execute welding and fabrication tasks as required for vehicle repairs and modifications
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and workshop procedures to maintain a protected working environment
- Maintain accurate records of work completed and parts used for each vehicle serviced
- Communicate effectively with customers to explain repairs needed and provide cost estimates
- Ensure tools and workshop equipment are maintained in good working condition
- Keep abreast of new automotive technologies and repair techniques relevant to the trade
What we're looking for
- Recognised apprenticeship or qualification in automotive mechanics or equivalent hands-on experience
- Proven experience as a mechanic in a professional workshop environment
- Strong knowledge of vehicle systems including engines, transmissions, electrical systems and suspension
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools and modern automotive equipment
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and specifications
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Valid driver's licence and willingness to test drive vehicles where appropriate
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced workshop environment
