Walcha Council is seeking multiple operators and people who have never worked in roads before, to fill multiple positions.
About the Role
As a Labour / Operator at Walcha Council, you can expect the work to be diverse and typically involving working on our highways, local & urban road network and all the tasks that involves. Some of these tasks will include traffic control, verge and drain work, as well as operating our plant. This opportunity could lead to ongoing permanent employment for the right applicants.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Carry out labouring duties as directed
- Use hand tools and operate small plant items on Council worksites
- Hold and use a current Drivers Licence to drive light vehicles
- Operate Plant and equipment safely, legally, efficiently and competently
- Read, understand and apply traffic control plans
What You'll Bring
- A current and valid Class C Drivers Licence
- WHS General Construction Induction Card
- Demonstrated experience working well with others
- Willingness to participate in an On-Call Roster if required
- Experience in Civil Construction preferred, but not essential

This is a Casual position starting at $29.4289 (gross) per hour + superannuation + casual loadings based on Band 1 Level 3 Grade 2 of the Local Government (State) Award 2026.
