Role Description The Waste Project Office – Food Organics role is a full-time, in office position based in the Greater Newcastle Area, supporting the planning and delivery of food organics waste projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include coordinating project administration, maintaining accurate records, supporting reporting on waste initiatives, and assisting with the implementation of food organics collection and processing programs.

The role involves liaising with internal teams and external stakeholders,



responding to community and customer enquiries, and providing clear information about waste services and sustainability outcomes. The position also supports budgeting and basic accounting tasks related to project expenditure, prepares correspondence and documentation, and contributes to continuous improvement of waste management processes.

Qualifications

- Strong Communication and Customer Service skills to engage effectively with community members, internal teams, and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Administrative Assistance and Office Administration, including document management, scheduling, and record-keeping.
- Basic Accounting skills to support budgeting, cost tracking, and financial reporting for waste projects.
- Experience or interest in waste management, environmental sustainability, or local government operations.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team and manage competing priorities in a project-based environment.
- Competence with standard office software (e.g., MS Office suite) and data entry systems.
- Relevant qualification in administration, environmental studies, business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
