Position: Bricklayer
Number of Positions: 1
Employment Type: Full-time, permanent
Hours: 38 hours per week, plus reasonable additional hours where required
Business Location: Bella Vista, NSW 2153
Work Location: Various construction sites across Greater Sydney and surrounding areas
Salary: $80,000–$86,000 per annum, plus superannuation
Additional Payments: Applicable overtime, allowances and other entitlements will be paid in accordance with the relevant workplace laws and industrial instrument.

About the Role

Viva Builders Pty Ltd is seeking an experienced and skilled Bricklayer to join its construction team on a full-time basis.

The successful candidate will work across various residential and commercial construction sites. This position requires strong technical bricklaying skills, attention to detail and a commitment to completing work safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Studying architectural plans, drawings and specifications to determine required materials, dimensions and installation procedures.
Setting out brickwork and blockwork in accordance with construction plans and specifications.
Calculating the quantities of bricks, blocks, mortar and other materials required for each project.
Preparing mortar and spreading mortar layers to provide a base and binder for bricks and blocks.
Laying bricks, concrete blocks, pre-cut stone and other building materials in rows, patterns, designs and specified shapes.
Ensuring brickwork and blockwork is level, plumb, aligned and completed to the required dimensions.
Cutting,



shaping and fitting bricks and blocks using hand tools, power tools and brick-cutting machinery.
Installing steel lintels, wall ties, flashings, reinforcement bars and other structural components as required.
Pointing, finishing and cleaning mortar joints to achieve the required appearance and durability.
Constructing and repairing walls, partitions, arches and other brick or block structures.
Repairing and maintaining existing brickwork, blockwork and related masonry structures.
Erecting and dismantling restricted-height scaffolding and basic work platforms where authorised and required.
Preparing daily material, equipment and tool requirements for upcoming work.
Maintaining tools, equipment and work areas in a safe, clean and serviceable condition.
Following applicable Australian Standards, the National Construction Code, project specifications and workplace procedures.
Complying with Work Health and Safety requirements and correctly using personal protective equipment.
Coordinating with supervisors, other tradespeople, subcontractors and project personnel to meet construction schedules and quality requirements.
Qualifications and Experience

Applicants must have either:

Certificate III in Bricklaying and Blocklaying, or an equivalent relevant trade qualification,



together with at least one year of relevant bricklaying experience; or
At least three years of relevant full-time bricklaying experience where the applicant does not hold the required formal qualification.
Mandatory Requirements

Applicants must have:

Demonstrated experience working as a Bricklayer within the construction industry.
A current Australian driver licence or an overseas licence that can lawfully be used in NSW.
Reliable transport and the ability to travel between construction sites.
A valid Construction White Card.
Current asbestos awareness training where required for the relevant projects or sites.
Their own standard bricklaying hand tools.
The physical fitness and capacity to safely perform manual construction work.
The ability to interpret construction plans, drawings and specifications.
A robust understanding of bricklaying methods, mortar preparation, construction tolerances and quality standards.
The ability to work independently with limited supervision and collaboratively as part of a construction team.
Good communication, time-management and problem-solving skills.
A strong commitment to workplace safety, quality and project deadlines.
