About the Role
Tandoori Bistro is seeking an experienced Chef to join its kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a range of North Indian dishes, maintaining consistent food quality, supporting menu planning and ensuring productive kitchen operations in accordance with food safety and workplace standards.

Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary: $75,000 to $85,000 per annum plus Superannuation
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of North Indian dishes, including curries, tandoori items, biryanis, breads and vegetarian specialties
- Monitor food preparation and cooking processes to maintain consistent quality, flavour and presentation
- Inspect ingredients and prepared food to ensure freshness and quality standards are maintained
- Assist with menu planning and the development of seasonal or specialty dishes
- Estimate food requirements and assist with ordering, stock control and inventory management
- Regulate cooking temperatures and use appropriate cooking methods for different menu items
- Maintain kitchen cleanliness, hygiene and food safety standards
- Train and support junior kitchen staff in food preparation techniques and kitchen procedures
- Minimise food wastage and ensure efficient use of ingredients and kitchen resources
- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to support efficient dine-in, takeaway and catering service
Candidate Requirements
- Relevant qualification in Commercial Cookery or a related discipline
- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience as a Chef in a commercial kitchen
- Experience preparing North Indian cuisine, including tandoori dishes, curries and traditional Indian breads
- Strong knowledge of food preparation, kitchen operations and stock control
- Sound understanding of food safety and workplace health and safety requirements
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Strong organisational, communication and teamwork skills
