Our client is seeking to add a reliable and experienced Painting Trade Worker to its growing team. The successful applicant will take pride in their work, demonstrate strong attention to detail and contribute effectively within a supportive and professional environment. The typical job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Prepare current and previously painted surfaces by removing old coatings, sanding, filling, patching, sealing and priming.
- Inspect surfaces, identify defects and complete repairs and touch-up work to achieve the required finish.
- Select, prepare and mix paints to achieve the required colour, consistency, texture, sheen and finish.
- Apply paints and coatings using brushes, rollers and professional spray equipment, including airless and HVLP systems.
- Apply stains, varnishes, clear coatings and specialised finishes, including limewash, textured, stone-effect and faux finishes, where required.
- Read and interpret job specifications, work instructions,
scope drawings, floor plans, colour schedules and finish schedules.
- Work safely at heights using ladders, scaffolding, fall barriers and appropriate fall-protection equipment.
- Measure work areas, calculate material quantities, and assist with ordering, receiving and checking painting supplies.
- Clean and maintain tools, spray equipment and work areas, follow workplace safety procedures, and dispose of materials responsibly.
- Communicate with customers, supervisors and team members while completing residential and commercial painting work to the required quality standards and project timeframes.
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements to be considered for the role:
- AQF Certificate III in Painting and Decorating, or an equivalent relevant trade qualification.
- A minimum of three years of cumulative relevant experience working as a Painter or Painting Trade Worker.
- Demonstrated experience preparing surfaces and applying coatings using brushes, rollers and professional spray equipment.
- Experience selecting, mixing and applying paints, stains, varnishes and clear finishes across varied surfaces.
- Ability to safely use ladders, scaffolding and fall-protection equipment while completing work at heights.
- Competence in measuring work areas, estimating material quantities and interpreting job specifications.
- Sound knowledge of workplace health and safety, personal protective equipment and environmentally responsible material disposal.
- Strong attention to detail, teamwork and communication skills across residential and commercial painting projects.
