About the role

MD Kitchens is seeking a keen and motivated Apprentice Cabinet Maker to join our growing team in Ocean Grove, Victoria. This is a full-time apprenticeship opportunity that will provide you with comprehensive training in cabinet making and joinery. As an apprentice, you will work alongside experienced craftspeople, learning the essential skills and techniques required to become a skilled cabinet maker. This role offers the perfect foundation for a rewarding career in the trades, combining hands-on experience with formal vocational training.

Key responsibilities

- Assist senior cabinet makers in the design, measurement and fabrication of custom cabinetry and kitchen installations

- Learn and apply proper use of hand tools, power tools and woodworking machinery whilst adhering to safety protocols

- Prepare materials, including timber cutting, shaping and finishing, under supervision and guidance

- Participate in the assembly and installation of cabinets and bespoke furniture pieces at customer premises

- Maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment

- Support the team with general workshop duties and material handling

- Attend formal training and complete apprenticeship requirements through your registered training provider

- Develop knowledge of timber types, finishes, hardware and cabinet design principles

What we're looking for

- A genuine passion for cabinet & furniture making and working with your hands

- Strong attention to detail and commitment to achieving high-quality workmanship

- Excellent problem-solving abilities and willingness to learn new techniques

- Good communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to take direction and feedback positively

- Physical fitness and capability to perform manual work,



including lifting and standing for extended periods

- A valid driver's licence (desirable) for potential site visits and deliveries

- Enrolment in or willingness to enrol in a Cabinet Making apprenticeship programme through an accredited training provider

- Reliability, punctuality and a safety-conscious attitude
