Our Position:

A Xavier College Diverse Learning Teacher is expected to make a significant contribution to an aspirational and rigorous culture of learning and educational excellence in the faculty, contributing to the development, implementation and review of programs and resources matched to the diverse learning needs of students.

The position joins a team of passionate educators and support staff in the learning area of Diverse Learning and models and fosters a contemporary approach to the differentiation of pedagogy and assessment, underpinned by the Ignatian Pedagogical Paradigm.

At Xavier College, Diverse Learning Teachers in the Senior School operate in a multi-faceted role where duties include:

- maintenance of best practice in contemporary teaching pedagogies.

- engagement in pastoral care programs and structures.

- active involvement in curriculum development, assessment collaboration and reporting.

- participation in professional learning and qualified formation.

- cocurricular involvement (including supervision of students engaging in the programs).

- completion of general and administrative duties to a high standard including reporting and maintenance of accurate and complete data / records of student progress.

- commitment to and engagement with Duty of Care and child safety responsibilities.

Core Duties and Responsibilities:

A Xavier College a Diverse Learning teacher at the Senior School is expected to:

- have attained relevant teriary qualifications and possess at least five (5) years experience in a similar position





- model the highest standards of professional practice in Diverse Learning and contribute across all dimensions of the educational program, including academic, spiritual and pastoral.

- support the Head of Diverse Learning at the Senior School, teaching colleagues, Diverse Learning Assistants and Heads of Learning in each learning area, supporting the objectives of the Learning Area, including but not limited to creating resources for various levels and specialist areas as applicable, differentiating learning to meet needs, undertaking continuous reporting, developing, administering, marking and providing feedback on assessment tools, course writing and documentation.

- working as part of a cohesive team, contributing to the efficient and responsive operation of the team, demonstrating engagament and alignment with the goals of the Diverse Learning team at all Year levels from Year 7 - 12, across all subject areas and various other programs, including those outside a classroom setting.

- contribute positively to the staff professional culture, demonstrating respect for all colleagues and students.

- be responsible for the care and protection of children in accordance with Ministerial Order 1359.

- actively support and reflect the Ignatian ethos of the College.

- be responsible for the wellbeing, teaching and learning programs of all students in their care.

- be responsible for guiding the conduct of students and maintaining a child safe environment.

- be responsible for the appearance of students and model appropriate professional presentation.

- develop and maintain collegial, respectful and professional relationships with colleagues.

- adhere to all College policies and regulatory / compliance requirements.
