The Principal Advisor, Judicial Engagement is the primary point of contact between members of the Queensland and Commonwealth Judiciary and QCS. This position is specifically responsible for the timely and professional exchange of sensitive and topical information between all Queensland and Federal courts and QCS by working with key stakeholders to deal with and provide resolutions to complex problems. In doing so, the Principal Advisor, Judicial Engagement is ultimately responsible for building and maintaining an effective, efficient and strategic relationship with the Judiciary at both the state and federal levels.

- Build and maintain solid working partnerships, representing QCS and supporting the Commissioner in engagement with the Judiciary to promote positive relationships with the department.
- Develop and implement a range of consultation strategies that promote engagement opportunities with key members of the Judiciary.
- Manage external contact, including direct engagement, with senior officers and executives, Magistrates, Judges and Justices.
- Work collaboratively with all QCS divisions and commands, particularly Custodial Operations and the Community Corrections and Specialist Operations divisions, to ensure continual quality service, improvement of process and transparency in practice.




- Manage the department's responses to stakeholder enquiries and information requests from the Judiciary.
- Work collaboratively with the Strategic Futures Command, Operational Performance and Reporting Group to monitor sentencing trends and bail outcomes and provide strategic briefings to the Executive and the Commissioner.
- Work collaboratively with the QCS Academy for the provision of Judicial Engagement awareness training for trainees or other participants.
- Maintain high level of knowledge of relevant legislation, policy and procedures in relation to QCS matters.
- Maintain high level of knowledge of relevant reports, research and media articles/campaigns in relation to Judicial matters which can impact QCS strategy and operations.
- In the lead up to annual Parliamentary Estimates Committee Hearing (PECH), work collaboratively with the Principal Advisor, Estimates, for the provision of the agency's Estimates submission.
- At the direction of the Chief of Staff, develop briefing notes and other correspondence to contribute to the effective functioning of the Office of the Commissioner.
