Job Description:

We are currently seeking a skilled and passionate Chef to join our team full‑time. As a Chef at The South Corner cafe and restaurant, you will be responsible for creating and preparing high‑quality dishes that meet our customers' expectations. You will work closely with our Head Chef and kitchen team to maintain our high standards of food quality and presentation.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with recipes and restaurant standards
- Ensure all dishes are presented in an attractive and appetizing manner
- Monitor food stock levels and place orders when necessary
- Train and supervise junior kitchen staff
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment
- Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to develop new menu items and specials
- Assist with menu planning and cost control




- Handle and store food products in a safe and efficient manner
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures

Requirements

- Proven experience as a Chef in a similar role
- Extensive knowledge of food preparation techniques and cooking methods
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced workplace and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Attention to detail and a passion for creating high‑quality dishes
- Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent)
- Food safety and hygiene certification
- Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings
- Competitive salary of $73,000 to $76,000 per year plus super
