Stonemason – NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure

About the role

Heritage Stoneworks handcraft sandstone blocks for maintenance of NSW’s heritage buildings. Stonemasons install these blocks on site and apply craft skills to safeguard over 800 heritage‑significant sandstone structures used as schools, hospitals and courthouses.

Responsibilities

- Assist with planning and delivery of assigned infrastructure project tasks.
- Manage small‑scale infrastructure projects of low to medium risk and complexity.
- Ensure timely, cost, quality, safety targets and client expectations are met.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated experience in operating stonemasonry machinery (Stonemason Machinist).




- Successful completion of stonemasonry apprenticeship, with over a year of industry experience (Stonemason W5).
- Well‑developed knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation and regulations.
- Valid NSW Driver’s Licence and willingness to drive to remote locations; dogging and forklift tickets preferred.

Salary and Allowances

Salary from $2,656.89pf (@$69,079pa) plus various allowances including tools ($75.90pf), all purpose ($70.45pf), fares and travel time ($30.39pd). Allowances add an approximate $9,905pa. RDO time in lieu accrued.
