Use your disability sector experience to lead practical, person-centred disability support with a team that backs you, expects ownership, and values decent humans who get things done.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for a Support Specialist who can step into a busy, varied role supporting clients, families and support teams to deliver high-quality disability supports. This is not a role for someone who needs every day to look the same. You’ll be focussing on client support, staff management, documentation, problem-solving and service coordination. Sometimes face to face, sometimes virtually, and sometimes on the road.
You’ll have plenty of support around you, especially during orientation, but we’re also looking for someone who learns by doing, asks good questions and is willing to jump in when something needs to be sorted.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
- Supporting clients and their teams to deliver safe, consistent and person-centred disability support to our valued QSSS Clients.
- Working with clients, families, support workers and internal teams to understand needs, solve problems and keep services moving.
- Translating conversations, observations and decisions into clear written documentation, including Support Plans and Support Routines, Case Notes and follow-up actions.
- Recruiting, guiding and supporting frontline staff, including having direct conversations when standards, communication or consistency need to improve.
- Managing a changing workload, competing priorities and moments where things need to be handled calmly and quickly.
- Travelling to clients when required, including longer distances at times, while also being comfortable providing support virtually.
- Helping troubleshoot practical issues, identify solutions and follow through until things are actually done.
- Complete all relevant Client administrative tasks such as but not limited to; Client Profiles, Support Plans, Client Rosters, Data Collection and Reporting, Risk Assessments, PEEPs, Applicant Phone Screenings, Addressing Client Complaints and Feedback.
- And of course, work within the clearly defined NDIS Guidelines, QSSS Protocols, Expectations and Values
ABOUT YOU
You’re calm, grounded and approachable, but you still take the work seriously. You don’t need a title to take ownership, you’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves, and you understand that valuable disability support often comes down to practical follow-through, clear communication and doing what you said you would do.
You might be someone who started as a support worker and has grown beyond direct support into leadership, coordination, mentoring or operational roles. You’ll need good judgement, emotional maturity and the ability to build trust with people quickly.
WE'RE LOOKING FOR SOMEONE WHO:
- Practical, resilient and willing to muck in when needed.
- Comfortable with a high workload and shifting priorities.
- Honest and direct, while still respectful and thoughtful.
- A good listener who looks for solutions instead of sitting in the problem.
- Confident having management conversations with staff, clients or families when required.
- Not precious about doing whatever needs to be done to support good outcomes.
- Curious, coachable and willing to learn from experience.
- A genuinely decent human who cares about people and takes pride in good work.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Experience in the disability sector, ideally with a strong understanding of the NDIS environment and person-centred support.
- Previous experience as a disability support worker, team leader, coordinator or similar role.
- Leadership or staff management experience, including coaching others and addressing performance or service issues.
- Strong written documentation skills, including support planning, case notes, routines and clear action-based records.
- Good computer literacy and confidence using systems, emails and documentation tools.
- Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients, families and staff.
- Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel when required.
- Relevant checks, clearances and right to work in Australia, as required for the role.
WHAT WE OFFER
- A supportive team around you from day one, including orientation and ongoing guidance.
- A role with variety, autonomy and the chance to make meaningful improvements for clients and teams.
- Opportunities to grow your confidence, leadership and sector knowledge through real experience.
- A workplace that values honesty, follow-through, practical thinking and genuine care.
- A mix of in-person, travel-based and virtual support depending on client and service needs.
SOUND LIKE YOU?
If you’re looking for a polished corporate role where everything is already neat and predictable, this probably isn’t it. But if you’re practical, steady, people-focused and ready to help build strong supports in the real world, we’d love to hear from you.
Apply now with your resume and a short cover letter telling us why this role sounds like the right fit for you.
