An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced sustainability professional to join a large and complex organisation during a period of increased business demand.
This senior advisory role will suit a highly capable professional with expertise across sustainability, climate change and environmental strategy. Working with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders, you will play a key role in shaping strategic initiatives, delivering impactful projects and providing expert advice on sustainability performance and emissions reduction opportunities.
This position offers the opportunity to influence organisational decision-making, contribute to long-term sustainability objectives and drive projects that deliver tangible environmental outcomes.
Your new role
As Principal Sustainability Advisor, you will lead the development and delivery of sustainability initiatives, environmental programs and emissions reduction strategies across the department. You will provide specialist advice to senior stakeholders while ensuring projects and programs align with broader departmental priorities.
You will oversee emissions measurement and reporting activities, support the implementation of sustainability policies and strategies, and identify opportunities to improve environmental performance through evidence-based decision making. The role will involve working across a broad stakeholder landscape, building productive partnerships and representing the organisation within external forums and working groups where required.
You will also undertake research into emerging policy, regulatory and industry developments, prepare strategic reports and briefings, and contribute to projects focused on climate resilience, carbon reduction and sustainable outcomes.
What you'll need to succeed
- Tertiary qualifications in sustainability, environmental science or a related discipline
- Extensive experience delivering sustainability,
climate change or environmental programs
- Strong understanding of emissions reporting, carbon accounting and environmental performance frameworks
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement sustainability strategies and initiatives
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement, communication and negotiation skills
- Strong project management capability with experience delivering complex projects and programs
- Ability to analyse complex information and provide strategic recommendations to senior stakeholders
- Experience preparing high-quality reports, briefings and executive-level advice
