About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented SolidWorks Draftsperson to join our design team in Pakenham. Working closely with project managers, clients, and our fabrication team, you will transform concepts into fabrication-ready drawings and oversee designs from concept through to manufacture. This is a unique role, as you will have the opportunity to project manage your designs through to fabrication.
Key Responsibilities
- Create 3D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
- Develop fabrication-ready shop drawings and production documentation.
- Produce BOMs (Bills of Materials) and material take-offs.
- Liaise with factory staff, suppliers, and subcontractors regarding design requirements.
- Conduct site measure-ups and occasional site visits.
- Support estimating and project delivery teams with technical documentation.
- Assist with product development and R&D; projects.
- Manage drawing revisions and document control.
- Manage the ordering of materials for projects.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years of drafting experience using SolidWorks.
- Experience in steel fabrication, sheet metal, architectural metalwork, or manufacturing environments.
- Solid understanding of fabrication methods and construction detailing.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering and architectural drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and communication skills.
- Experience with AutoCAD is advantageous.
- Australian working rights required.
