Grocery Department Manager / Potential Store Manager

We're looking for an experienced supermarket professional to join our team. This role is ideal for a strong Grocery Department Manager ready to take ownership of a high-performing department, with opportunities for the right candidate to progress into a Store Manager position.

About the Role

As our Grocery Department Manager, you will be responsible for leading the grocery team while ensuring smooth day-to-day operations. maintain excellent merchandising standards and deliver an exceptional shopping experience for our customers.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead, coach and develop a motivated and high-performing team..

- Drive sales, productivity and operational performance.

- Maintain exceptional merchandising, presentation and department standards.

- Monitor quality control, wastage and shrinkage.

- Communicate seasonal, environmental and product quality issues with the team.

- Manage inventory, stock control and purchase orders.

- Check deliveries and ensure stock levels meet store requirements.

- Build strong relationships with direct suppliers.

- Deliver outstanding customer service and resolve customer enquiries professionally.

- Ensure compliance with company policies, food safety and operational procedures.

- Support other store departments when required.





- Foster a positive team culture focused on collaboration and continuous improvement.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

- Minimum 5 years' experience in a supermarket environment in a Grocery Manager, Department Manager, Assistant Store Manager.

- Experience working with direct suppliers and managing purchase orders (essential).

- Strong leadership, coaching and people management skills.

- Demonstrated experience managing day-to-day retail operations, including staff supervision, inventory control and financial performance.

- Excellent analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.

- A customer-first mindset with a passion for maintaining high store standards.

- Ability to work autonomously and make sound operational decisions.

- Weekend availability??

- Physical fitness to perform regular heavy lifting, bending and work within cold freezer environments.
