Assistant Centre Manager
Box Hill South
Part-time | Approximately 20–25 hours across 4–5 days
About us
Bilingual Montessori Early Learning provides high-quality education and care in a nurturing bilingual Montessori workplace. We value respect, community, professionalism and the individual development of every child.
About the role
We are seeking a warm, confident and organised Assistant Centre Manager for our new Box Hill South service.
You will be the primary day-to-day contact for families, prospective families and educators. Working closely with the Approved Provider, you will lead family communication, centre tours, enrolment follow-up, daily staff coordination and the implementation of operational decisions.
This position would suit an experienced Room Leader, Educational Leader, 2IC or Assistant Manager who enjoys working with people and is ready to take the next step in leadership.
The role will initially offer approximately 15–25 hours across three to five days. Additional hours may be available across our campuses, with the opportunity for the position to grow as enrolments increase.
Key responsibilities
- Be the approachable first point of contact for families and educators.
- Respond to enquiries and conduct centre tours.
- Support enrolment, orientation and family-engagement processes.
- Coordinate daily staffing, breaks, room coverage and communication.
- Provide guidance and day-to-day support to educators.
- Respond professionally to routine family questions and concerns.
- Escalate significant matters to the Approved Provider with clear information.
- Support compliance with the National Quality Framework and service policies.
- Assist with quality improvement, documentation and preparation for regulatory visits.
- Promote active supervision, child-safe practice and a positive workplace culture.
- Act as the Responsible Person when appropriately appointed.
- Work directly with children and support the rooms when required.
What we are looking for
- Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or an approved equivalent.
- Current Working with Children Check or VIT registration.
- Current first aid, CPR, asthma and anaphylaxis qualifications.
- Previous leadership experience in an early childhood service.
- Robust knowledge of the National Quality Framework.
- Warm, confident and professional communication skills.
- Confidence speaking with families, conducting tours and supporting educators.
- Strong organisation, initiative and follow-through.
- Sound judgement about what to resolve independently and what to escalate.
- An interest in Montessori education and bilingual learning.
Montessori experience is highly regarded but not essential, as training can be provided.
What we offer
- A genuine people-focused leadership role.
- Direct support and mentoring from the Approved Provider.
- Flexible part-time arrangements.
- Potential additional hours across two services.
- Opportunities for increased hours as enrolments grow.
- Professional development and Montessori training.
- Remuneration based on qualifications, experience and responsibilities.
How to apply
Please submit your résumé and a brief cover letter outlining your leadership experience, family-engagement skills and availability.
