About the role
Paragon Civil Group is seeking experienced Formwork Carpenters and Steel Fixers to join our team on a contract basis. This is a hands-on role within the civil sector, where you will play a crucial part in delivering high-quality structural work on civil and construction projects. Based in Perth and regional WA, these positions offer the opportunity to work on significant projects whilst utilising your specialist skills in formwork construction and steel fixing. This is contract work, providing flexibility and the chance to work on varied and interesting projects.
Key responsibilities
- Construct, assemble and disassemble formwork systems for concrete structures, ensuring accuracy and safety compliance
- Install and fix steel reinforcement according to engineering specifications and drawings
- Prepare and set up work areas, ensuring all materials and tools are organised and readily available
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints and specifications to execute work to required standards
- Inspect formwork and steel fixing for quality, alignment and structural integrity before concrete placement
- Maintain safe working practices and adhere to all health and safety regulations on site
- Collaborate with other trades and site personnel to ensure coordinated and efficient project delivery
- Maintain tools and equipment in good working order, reporting any damage or faults promptly
- Contribute to a positive and professional site culture, supporting team objectives and deadlines
What we're looking for
- Proven experience as a Formwork Carpenter and/or Steel Fixer in the construction or civil engineering sector
- Robust knowledge of formwork systems, materials and installation techniques
- Proficiency in steel reinforcement fixing, bending and placement
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications accurately
- Current and valid driver's licence
- White Card (Construction Induction Certificate) or willingness to obtain one
- Proven track record of working safely and maintaining compliance with workplace health and safety requirements
- Physical fitness and ability to work at heights, in confined spaces and in varied weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in formwork carpentry and/or steel fixing are advantageous
- Experience working on large civil or commercial projects is preferred
