This is an exciting opportunity to work on a diverse range of traffic and transport initiatives, from active transport and road safety projects to strategic planning and development assessments. You'll collaborate with experienced professionals and contribute to projects that have a direct impact on the daily lives of our residents, businesses and visitors.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Traffic Engineer, you will:
- Prepare traffic and transport plans, studies and strategies that align with Council priorities and community needs.
- Research, analyse and develop practical solutions to traffic and land-use challenges.
- Provide technical advice and assessment input on development applications, planning proposals and strategic planning documents.
- Assist in the preparation of grant applications to secure external funding for transport and traffic-related projects.
- Plan, assess and design traffic and transport infrastructure, including:
- Bus stops
- Active transport facilities
- Parking facilities
- Road networks
- Traffic management treatments
- Work closely with key stakeholders, including Transport for NSW, NSW Police and other authorities, to support the delivery of transport outcomes across the Shire.
About You
You are a critical thinker who enjoys solving complex problems and working collaboratively to achieve positive community outcomes.
You bring a strong technical foundation, coupled with a practical approach to delivering innovative transport solutions.
To be successful, you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience in traffic engineering, transport planning and/or transport operations.
- Strong analytical, investigation and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- The ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team workplace.

- Package: $103,552 - $109,766 gross p.a.
plus 12% superannuation. Salary will be determined based on the skills and experience of the successful candidate.
- Hours of work: Permanent Full Time. You will have the option of a 19 day month through Council’s flex system.
