Selection Criteria
Technical Knowledge and ICT Support
Demonstrated ability to provide technical support for Windows and Apple devices, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting and maintenance of hardware and software. Experience with LMS software XUNO and device management platforms such as Meraki MDM, Apple School Manager, Microsoft Intune, MDT and similar technologies would be highly regarded.
Problem Solving and Technical Diagnosis
Demonstrated ability to investigate, diagnose and resolve ICT issues efficiently, including hardware, software, networking and connectivity problems. Ability to apply analytical thinking to identify the root cause of technical issues and restore services with minimal disruption to staff and students.
Communication, Customer Service and Teamwork
Developed interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to provide qualified, responsive and effective ICT support to staff and students.
Learning, Innovation and Adaptability
Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional learning and the ability to quickly acquire new technical knowledge and skills. Role
The School IT Technician provides reliable technical support for staff and student devices at Horsham West and Haven Primary School. The role focuses on support for all staff and students, device management, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Windows and Apple devices to support effective school operations.
The successful candidate will be organised and self-driven, with a strong willingness to learn, quickly investigate and diagnose issues, and develop new skills. The applicant will look for opportunities to improve school systems and processes.
Responsibilities
Device Management & Deployment
- Install, configure, and maintain school-owned Windows and Apple devices for staff and students.
- Install, configure, and maintain student BYOD Apple devices.
- Support Apple device management through Meraki/Intune MDM.
- Windows deployments (experience with Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT), and Intune, would be beneficial).
- Support of Staff and student device management
- Knowledge using DISCO would be beneficial
Diagnostics & Support
- Quickly investigate, diagnose, and resolve hardware and software issues on staff and student devices.
- Restore Wi-Fi functionality to a range of school devices.
- Provide support to staff on technical queries and day-to-day device use.
- Apply understanding of basic networking
- The ability to restore services after faults or power outages.
Technology Investigation & Improvement
- Research and evaluate approved emerging technologies that could benefit the school, ensuring alignment with Department guidelines.
- Proactively identify opportunities to improve existing systems, and device management practices.
Required Skills and Attributes
- Demonstrated ability (or strong aptitude) in managing and troubleshooting Windows and Apple devices.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate and restore devices quickly
- An understanding of IP phones and resolution of faults
- Tracking staff devices for tranche rollout and user data migration to recent devices
- Experience with Meraki MDM for Apple devices is highly desirable.
- Experience with Apple School Manager Portal is desirable.
- Willingness to work as part of a team on developing and rolling out ICT Projects
- Awareness of MDT for Windows deployments would be an advantage.
- Understanding of basic networking concepts including patching, locating network points, and the use of VLANs.
- Organised and self-driven approach when working alone, but also the ability to work as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills for supporting staff effectively.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving school needs (including potential future developments such as Azure AD / SharePoint/Intune).
- Awareness of basic scripting or automation concepts.

Horsham West and Haven Primary School is a dual campus primary school with a combined enrolment of approximately 570 students. The two campuses are 7.5km apart, situated in developing residential areas and enjoy a healthy level of community support and involvement as evidenced by active Parents¿ Clubs which operate at both campuses.
The Horsham West campus is located on the western fringe of Horsham and is a large primary school with 470 students. The campus has specialist classroom facilities together with a gymnasium and a well-resourced library.
Our Haven campus is located in a rural setting on the southern outskirts of Horsham. The campus has adjoining community sports facilities that extend the recreational activities available to students.
Both campuses enjoy a range of specialist programs which include Art, Health, ICT, Performing Arts, Physical Education, and STEAM.
