Primary objective
Develop and provide policy advice and support to key projects as they relate to portfolios within the Department of Logistics
and Infrastructure.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide advice on strategic policy issues relevant to the Department of Logistics and Infrastructure.
2. Lead and manage the development, implementation and evaluation of complex policy related projects, including through
research and analysis of national and international issues and processes.
3. Produce and assist with high level complex papers, reports, briefings, and correspondence, including public information
papers, Ministerial Briefings, Cabinet Submissions, drafting instructions, speech notes and research papers.
4.
Assist with developing appropriate communication strategies and supporting information to facilitate extensive industry
and stakeholder engagement and consultation processes.
5. Plan for, coordinate, and manage working groups to ensure the development of effective legislative frameworks for
legislative priorities.
6. Represent the Department and the Northern Territory on inter-departmental, inter-governmental, industry and
stakeholder working groups and committees
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Sound experience in providing high level strategic policy advice and in developing and implementing major policies,
projects and strategies.
2. Experience in research and critical analysis of legislation and providing high level policy advice and legislative solutions.
3. Sound experience in leading, managing, implementing and evaluating complex projects and working within governance
frameworks to achieve organisational objectives.
4. Highly developed written communication skills including experience in preparing complex strategies, reports, submissions
and ministerial and cabinet papers.
5. Demonstrated ability to use strategic, conceptual and analytical skills to interpret complex documents and provide high
level advice and recommendations.
6. Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills and ability to build and maintain strategic alliances and effective
networks with a range of internal and external stakeholders.
7. Experience in representing an organisation on high level working groups and committees and proven practical
organisational skills to coordinate the management of working groups, executive reporting and stakeholder engagements,
whilst meeting tight deadlines and adapting to changing priorities in a dynamic work workplace.
Desirable
1. Knowledge of government processes.
2. A relevant tertiary qualification.
