Mission

As part of its international growth, Neoen is developing, building, and operating several Renewable Energy (RE) Projects in Australia, New Zealand and Japan.

The Competence Center is a department of expertise whose role is to provide a technical understanding of specific projects or issues. In addition to this technical approach, the Competence Center is called upon to give its opinion on the "business" impact of the industrial choices proposed.

The Competence Center is a full-fledged player in the project teams from development phase to ensure Neoen reaches bidding and procurement steps with the correct level of technical understanding. In this context, it acts permanently as a control point regarding the industrial choices that can be made and as a guarantor of the technical appendices in support of the construction and asset management teams.

Beyond the pure technical approach relative to the concerned technology components (solar, wind, storage), the competence center can therefore add value by offering a wider knowledge of the project’s key steps and components: Balance of Plant, Construction methodology, Construction risks.

Moreover, the Competence Center also manages storing and sharing the relevant technical knowledge within the group and ensure the different teams get the feedback they need along the way.

As part of its growth, the Competence Center is looking for a recent Technical Expert for Australia. Reporting to the Regional Head of Technical and Procurement Departments, the person will work in close collaboration with the other Technical Experts in the Competence Centre to support Development, Procurement, Construction and Operation teams to improve and maintain the quality of the projects’ preparation and execution, especially from a technical and design perspective. In this context, the Technical Expert will have the following responsibilities:

- Support Neoen ambitious expansion plans and contribute to commercial development by bringing technical expertise
- Identify, analyze, and quantify technical risks at the different stages of the projects, and propose mitigant strategies
- Contribute to the design,

equipment selection, and methods and continuous improvement of internal optimization of these
- Support contractual negotiations (preparation and review of technical exhibits)
- Challenge the Lenders Technical Advisor and attend their concerns during the Due Diligence phase
- Build up and share knowledge through the codification of project feedback
- Convert technical observations into business and strategic recommendations to ensure developers address the risks as early as possible
- Assess technical trends, and contribute to the qualification of new providers

Profil

The candidate will need the following skills and experience to succeed in this role:

- Master’s degree in science or engineering
- 3 to 5 years experience in an engineering or renewable field (project development, construction, operation, technical due diligence, expertise)
- Industrial project engineering background
- Technically curious with a strong desire to understand how systems, processes, and technologies work.
- Ability to master local and regional technical constraints (standards, permit conditions, etc.)
- Ability to challenge wind resource and energy yield assessments
- Preconstruction skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Risk management awareness
- Language: Fluent in English (mandatory). French would be a plus

- On the soft skills side, we are looking for:

Following capabilities would be a plus:
