Jump! Swim School Flemington

Ascot Vale

Teach beginner to intermediate swim lessons for children (infants to 12 years) following Jump Swim School curriculum standards. Deliver safe, fun, skill-focused lessons that build water confidence, stroke basics, and aquatic independence while maintaining a positive, inclusive setting for families. We welcome applicants with teaching experience and those new to swim instruction — full training and mentorship provided.

Key responsibilities

- Deliver 30 minute structured swim lessons for small groups and one-on-one lessons across age ranges (0–3, 3–5, 5–8, 8–12).

- Follow Jump Swim School lesson plans and progression goals; adapt activities to each child’s skill level.

- Teach water-safety, breath control, floating, kicking, basic strokes and entry/exit skills.

- Conduct pre-lesson checks (equipment, pool safety, roster) and keep post-lesson progress notes.

- Manage class behaviour with positive reinforcement and age-appropriate coaching techniques.

- Communicate with parents/guardians about student progress, home practice tips and bookings.

- Maintain pool safety standards: supervise deck, enforce rules, and respond to incidents per centre protocols.

- Assist with swim school administration: class sign-in, attendance tracking, waitlist management, and occasional front-desk duties.

- Provide excellent customer service: welcome families, handle enquiries and bookings professionally, resolve minor complaints, and escalate issues to management when needed.

- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and in-service coaching.

- Support local promotion when requested (community events,

open days).

Who we’re hiring — two pathways

- Experienced teachers: Candidates with prior children’s swim teaching or coaching experience who can lead lessons independently, mentor new staff, and take on larger class loads.

- New-to-teaching candidates: Enthusiastic people with strong swim skills and a desire to teach children. You'll receive structured on-the-job training, mentoring, and access to formal teaching qualifications.

Training & support for new applicants

- Paid in-centre induction covering Jump Swim School curriculum, lesson planning, child behaviour management, pool safety and emergency procedures.

- Mentored practical teaching assessments with senior staff.

- Access to subsidised formal qualifications and ongoing professional development.

- Basic customer service and booking system training for new staff.

Desirable

- Experience with franchise swim programs or swim coaching for advanced lessons.

- Experience in Customer Service or retail/hospitality.

Working conditions & physical requirements

- Poolside environment — exposure to humidity, chlorinated air and wet surfaces.

- Physically active: frequent lifting of equipment, repeated entering/exiting pool,

kneeling, and demonstrating skills.

- Compliance with uniform and professional presentation standards.

Salary & benefits

- Competitive hourly rate depending on experience and qualifications (award-aligned).

- Paid training for new staff and ongoing professional development.

- Friendly community-centric workplace in Flemington with opportunities for increased hours and progression as the franchise grows.
