About the Role

John Holland is looking for a Project Engineer to join our North East Link - Hoddle to Burke project

Eastern Hoddle Bourke Alliance (EHBA), comprising John Holland, Seymour Whyte, Mott MacDonald and Jacobs, in partnership with MRPV, is delivering a major upgrade of Melbourne's Eastern Freeway as part of the North East Link Project. The project includes:

6km of freeway widening with additional lanes in both directions
3km dedicated busway separated from mainline traffic
Major bridge and structural works, including a new Yarra River bridge
Installation of retaining walls, drainage, noise walls, ITS, lighting and signage

Role responsibilities
Plan and manage short‑ and long‑term construction activities, including programming, procurement and start‑up planning for allocated works.
Identify and support Head Contract variations, including changes to scope and ensure effective application of project commercial procedures and purchase order controls.
Ensure material, plant and subcontractor registers are accurately maintained to produce monthly accruals and assist in control of the budget and forecasting
Provide technical support to the construction team through robust knowledge of specifications and requirements.
Review design documentation to ensure clarity, compliance and suitability for construction.
Develop and maintain construction documentation & close out all defects within the timeframe of Practical Completion nominated in the Project Quality Plan
About You
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction, science or a related discipline.




Significant experience in an engineering/project delivery role, including Project Engineer responsibilities.
Proven experience delivering projects valued over $10M.
Strong understanding of project management frameworks, specifications, standards and accountabilities.
Working knowledge of design, quality, safety and environmental management plans.
Sound pre‑contracts knowledge, including design, planning and legislative requirements.
