Due to continued business growth, InnoHomes is seeking an experienced Pressure Welder to join its construction team.
About the Role
The Pressure Welder will perform precision welding and fabrication work associated with structural steel, pressure-rated pipework, steel components and fabricated assemblies used in residential construction projects, including custom homes, SDA developments, granny flats and multi-unit residential projects.
The successful applicant will work closely with site supervisors, project managers and fabrication personnel to ensure welding work is completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with Australian Standards and engineering specifications.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
The successful applicant will be responsible for:
- Reading and interpreting engineering drawings, fabrication plans, welding procedures and technical specifications.
- Preparing, aligning and assembling steel sections, pressure-rated pipework and fabricated components prior to welding.
- Performing pressure welding using appropriate welding processes, including MIG, TIG, MMAW (Stick) and FCAW, in accordance with approved welding procedures.
- Welding structural steel components, fabricated assemblies, pressure pipework and steel frameworks used in residential building and construction projects.
- Carrying out welding on steel supports, brackets, stair structures, handrails,
lintels and other fabricated building components where required.
- Inspecting welded joints to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards and project requirements.
- Identifying welding defects and carrying out repairs or rework where necessary to achieve required quality outcomes.
- Operating welding equipment, grinders, cutting equipment and fabrication machinery safely and efficiently.
- Working collaboratively with project managers, site supervisors, engineers and tradespersons to ensure fabrication and installation activities meet construction schedules.
- Ensuring all welding activities comply with Workplace Health and Safety requirements, Australian Standards and company quality assurance procedures.
- Maintaining welding equipment, tools and consumables in a safe and serviceable condition.
- Preparing and maintaining accurate records relating to completed welding work, inspections and equipment maintenance.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, applicants should demonstrate:
- AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV
- At least 2 years’ experience performing pressure welding and structural steel fabrication within the building, construction or fabrication industry.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and welding specifications.
- Sound knowledge of Australian welding standards and safe work practices.
