East Village Hotel is a Gastro pub located in Balmain, serving classics & daily specials. Affectionately nicknamed ‘The EVH’ by our locals, we are proudly ‘pokie free’, dog friendly, and the only remaining hotel in East Balmain. Super conveniently located, only 100m from the East Balmain Ferry, we are also only one ferry ride from Barangaroo!

We are looking for a Chef.

In the Chef, you will chop, mix, and make entrees, sauces, or side-dishes as the only kitchen worker in your section. You will ensure compliance with the highest quality, hygiene, and health standards. Success in this role will be demonstrated by delivering and developing dishes to expand restaurant clientele, improve reputation, attract new customers, and increase profits.

Responsibilities:

- Preparing for service, which includes ensuring the kitchen is well stocked with the necessary ingredients, as well as cleaning, cutting and marinating food
- Cooking and serving food,



while coordinating with other kitchen staff and wait staff
- Maintaining the cleanliness and tidiness of the kitchen
- Creating recent dishes and planning menus
- Ensuring that dishes meet high standards at all stages of preparation and presentation
- Hiring and training junior chefs.

Experience:

- Minimum 2 year of culinary experience
- Culinary training or apprenticeship certification a plus
- Knowledge of menu creation
- Able to maintain cost and quality standards
- Excellent communication skills
- Proven culinary catering talent
- Able to work effectively under pressure

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 – $75,000.00 per year
