The Translink Operations Centre (TOC) ensures the smooth operation of South East Queensland's public transport network, monitoring performance and service connectivity 7 days a week. With a focus on peak periods and major events, the TOC uses real-time systems, data analysis and on-the-ground intelligence to quickly identify and assess service disruptions. Working closely with delivery partners, the team coordinates timely, multi-modal responses to minimise disruptions and maintain reliable service for customers.
THE ROLE:
As the Advisor (Operational Customer Communications) within the Translink Operations Centre (TOC), you will oversee the day-to-day operations of real-time Communication Coordinators, ensuring effective and timely dissemination of information to enhance public transport communication. You will play a crucial role in maintaining seamless communication channels, promoting efficiency and addressing any real-time operational challenges to uphold the high standards of service delivery across Queensland's public transport network.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Supervise real-time Communication Coordinators to ensure timely and accurate dissemination of information related to public transport operations.
- Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to coordinate communication efforts and address any operational challenges promptly.
- Monitor and analyse communication processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing solutions to enhance overall effectiveness.
- Review and approve complex messaging to ensure accuracy, clarity and alignment with organisational standards before dissemination by Communication Coordinators.
- Provide guidance and training to Communication Coordinators,
fostering a highperformance culture and maintaining a cohesive team within the TOC.
Mandatory qualifications and conditions
- The successful applicant may be required to work outside normal business hours to support the 24/7 operational team, including weekends and public holidays.
- Due to this role having access to sensitive data, a criminal history check will be undertaken prior to appointment to the role.
ABOUT YOU:
To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in communications, preferably in a public transport or similar operational environment.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with various stakeholders, including internal teams and external partners.
- Strong attention to detail, especially in reviewing and approving complex messaging to uphold accuracy and reliability.
- Ability to adapt to dynamic and quick-paced environments, making sound decisions under pressure.
