What you'll be doing

The primary purpose of the Unaccredited Trainee in Orthopaedic Surgery is to provide effective medical services to surgical patients under supervision, while developing expertise in medical practice, in a complex clinical workplace. The Unaccredited Trainee is responsible for the initial assessment of patients and ongoing day-today management under the direction of the appropriate attending medical officer who has legal responsibility for ensuring appropriate communication and documentation takes place, including collection of appropriate Morbidity and Mortality data as well as a responsibility for the training and supervision of the the Junior medical staff. The Unaccredited Trainee is responsible for the delegating clinical and administrative duties to the Junior members of the staff.

- MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.





- Minimum of 3 years of postgraduate experience as an Orthorpaedic SRMO or Trainee and successful completion of term requirements for application to Advance Training with the Australian Orthopaedic Association.

- Advanced ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care.

- Advanced written and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate effectively and respectfully with patients, family members and other members of the health care team.

- Advanced organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.

- Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to self-education.

- Ability and willingness to work at the facilities within the Network to deliver patient care and preparedness and ability to participate in 24-hour shift work roster.
