Redian Recruitment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Fitter with strong conveyor maintenance experience for a full-time position with an established industrial business in Melbourne’s western suburbs.

This is a hands-on, predominantly outdoor maintenance role responsible for keeping conveyor systems and associated mechanical equipment operating safely, efficiently and reliably. The position involves working outside in varying weather conditions and would suit a practical, experienced Fitter who enjoys fault-finding, preventative maintenance and working within a busy industrial environment.

THE ROLE

Your responsibilities will include:

- Performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs across conveyor systems and associated equipment
- Diagnosing mechanical faults and completing breakdown repairs
- Inspecting and maintaining conveyor components, including belts, rollers, bearings, pulleys, gearboxes and drive systems
- Conducting scheduled machinery inspections and condition monitoring
- Completing maintenance and repair work across outdoor plant and equipment in varying weather conditions
- Working closely with production and operational teams to improve equipment reliability and minimise downtime
- Maintaining accurate records of maintenance activities and completed repairs
- Identifying equipment improvements and making practical recommendations
- Ensuring all work is completed in accordance with site safety procedures and quality standards

ABOUT YOU

To be considered for this position, you will have:

- A recognised Mechanical Fitter trade qualification or equivalent
- Previous experience maintaining and repairing conveyor systems




- Mechanical maintenance experience within an industrial, manufacturing, processing or materials-handling environment
- Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- The ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications and equipment manuals
- A strong commitment to workplace safety and quality
- The flexibility to work effectively in a quick-paced operational environment
- The ability and willingness to perform physically active work outdoors in varying weather conditions throughout the year
- Valuable communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with others
- A reliable, hands-on approach with excellent attention to detail

Experience with conveyor belt repairs, belt splicing, welding or fabrication would be highly regarded.
