Primary objective
Provide procurement advice and operational support, with emphasis on tendering and contract management support services that
reflect sound procurement practices, processes and procedures to ensure a consistent approach.

Context statement
The Procurement Operations team provides Departmental staff with oversight, strategic advice and operational support for all
procurement activities. This supports the delivery of a range of Departmental procurement outcomes in a timely manner, in
compliance with the Northern Territory Government's regulatory frameworks and policies and that demonstrate value for Territory
outcomes.





Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide advice to departmental staff on appropriate tendering methodology, templates and processes and the interpretation

of the procurement framework requirements.
2. Administer the preparation of tender documentation to ensure professional standards are maintained consistently across the

Department.
3. Contribute to the ongoing development and training of staff to improve procurement skills and knowledge in tender

preparation and assessment, through the management of intranet resources, ensuring relevant and currency of content
through the NTG web-based system, and the delivery of workshops.

4. Conduct management reviews of procurement projects to identify compliance issues and improvement opportunities.
5. Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and initiate and maintain collaborative working relationships.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Substantial knowledge of the principles of procurement and contracts management, the NTG Procurement Framework,

procurement processes and associated policy and/or legislation or ability to acquire such knowledge.
2. A broad based knowledge of contract and administration procedures to identify, recommend and implement changes to

procurement practices and procedures.
3. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders in a customer-focussed

environment and influence outcomes without direct authority.
4. Effective written and oral communication skills with the ability to prepare reports and briefings, and deliver training (one on

one, and workshop forums).
5. Ability to work under pressure, prioritise own workload in line with overall team needs and priorities to meet competing

demands.
6. Demonstrated commitment to personal and professional development to ensure skills and knowledge maintain pace with

changing workplace.

Desirable
1. Certificate IV in Procurement and Contracting or similar.
