What you will do
As senior legal adviser, public law and litigation, you will provide expert legal advice on complex public law and litigation matters across government.
You will manage important legal work, prepare high-quality advice and support strong decision-making.
You will:
- provide expert legal advice on complex public law, litigation and government matters
- manage complex litigation and advisory matters across multiple clients
- undertake thorough legal research, interpret legislation and develop practical legal advice
- prepare high-quality legal documents, reports, briefs and ministerial correspondence
- work closely with the office of the general counsel leadership team and build strong working relationships across the department.
About you
You must be admitted, or eligible to be admitted, to practise as a legal practitioner in Victoria.
You should have strong experience providing senior legal advice in administrative, public and human rights law. Knowledge of Victorian Government and Cabinet processes will also help you succeed.
You should also have:
- strong legal analysis and statutory interpretation skills
- the ability to provide clear legal advice with minimal supervision
- sound judgement to solve complex legal problems and manage competing priorities
- the ability to build trusted working relationships and support an inclusive workplace.
