What are we looking for?





The Government Relations & Stakeholder Lead is a key role within Slater & Gordon’s Corporate Affairs team, responsible for strengthening relationships with government, decision-makers, unions and other priority stakeholders.

Working closely with the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer, you will develop and deliver government relations, stakeholder engagement and advocacy priorities. This hands-on role will help build the firm’s external influence, coordinate advocacy campaigns and connect strategic priorities with government and stakeholder engagement.

You will also work closely with the Union Services team to develop a strategic approach to union engagement and partnerships.

- Develop and deliver a national government relations and stakeholder engagement plan.
- Build and strengthen relationships with governments, decision-makers, unions and priority stakeholders.
- Monitor political, policy and regulatory developments and provide practical advice on risks and opportunities.
- Support integrated advocacy campaigns aligned with Slater & Gordon’s strategic priorities.
- Develop advocacy, briefing and stakeholder materials and track engagement outcomes.
- Maintain stakeholder mapping, priorities and engagement plans across the firm.




- Develop and implement a strategic union engagement and partnership approach.
- Provide government, political and stakeholder advice to senior leaders
- Collaborate across Corporate Affairs, communications, campaigns, policy and broader business teams.
- Identify opportunities to strengthen the firm’s external networks, influence and partnerships.

What will you bring?

- 5+ years’ experience in government relations, government, politics, public policy, advocacy, stakeholder engagement, industrial relations or a related field.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Communications, Public Relations, Political Science, Business or a related discipline.
- Strong understanding of government, political and policy processes.
- Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with government and external stakeholders.
- Strong political judgement and ability to identify emerging risks and opportunities.
- Excellent written communication skills, including briefings, submissions and stakeholder materials.
- Experience contributing to advocacy, policy or integrated campaigns.
- Strong organisational skills and a disciplined approach to stakeholder management.
- Confidence working with senior executives and external stakeholders while remaining hands-on.
- Collaborative approach and ability to work across multiple teams and functions.
- High levels of discretion, judgement and integrity.
