About the Role

Paramount Care is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and reliable Male Disability Support Worker to provide one-on-one support to a participant based in Schofields, NSW.

This role is best suited to someone with experience supporting individuals living with disabilities and providing personal care and using safe manual handling techniques.

The successful candidate will support the participant with daily living activities, personal care, emotional wellbeing, community participation, and achieving individual recovery goals.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide person-centred, recovery-oriented support to participants living with disabilities.
- Support participants to achieve their individual recovery and wellbeing goals.
- Encourage emotional regulation,



coping strategies, confidence, and resilience.
- Promote independence, informed decision-making, and self-determination.
- Monitor and report changes in participants' wellbeing and support needs.
- Provide a safe, respectful, and empowering workplace.

Personal Care & Daily Living Support

- Provide respectful personal care including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, continence care, and personal hygiene.
- Assist participants with mobility, transfers, positioning, and movement using safe manual handling techniques and equipment where required.
- Support meal preparation, shopping, budgeting, household tasks, and daily living activities.
- Provide medication prompting in accordance with participant care plans and organisational procedures.
- Assist participants to develop independent living skills.
- Provide transport to appointments, community activities, and other required outings.

Community Participation & Capacity Building

- Encourage community participation and social inclusion.
- Support participants to attend appointments, education, employment, and recreational activities.
- Assist participants to build life skills, confidence, and meaningful social connections.
- Encourage self-advocacy and personal growth.

Documentation & Communication

- Maintain accurate progress notes, case notes, and incident reports.
- Communicate effectively with participants, families, allied health professionals, support coordinators, and team members.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
- Comply with NDIS Practice Standards, organisational policies, and confidentiality requirements.

Essential Requirements





- Minimum 2 years' experience supporting individuals with disabilities and/or mental health conditions.
- Demonstrated experience providing personal care.
- Experience with manual handling, mobility assistance, and safe transfer techniques.
- Understanding of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed practice.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check.
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module Certificate.
- Current Working with Children Check.
- Current National Police Check.
- Current Driver Licence and access to a reliable vehicle.

Desirable

- Certificate III or IV in Mental Health, Community Services, Disability, Individual Support, or a related qualification.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate.
- Experience working within the NDIS sector.
- Experience supporting participants from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) backgrounds.
- Experience supporting participants with complex behaviours or high support needs.
