PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Reporting to the General Counsel, the Senior Lawyer provides expert innovative and commercial legal advice and solutions to Power and Water
Corporation across all of its business units.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

The “WHAT” to be delivered

Function:
• Provide timely, accurate and commercially focussed legal services and advice, including in complex or sensitive matters with a high level of service

to clients.

- Provide strategic, innovative and commercial advice in corporate, governance and commercial matters (including managing and resolving

disputes) to drive commercial sustainability and financial performance in a strong regulatory framework.

- Developing and managing training and compliance programs to promote understanding of the Power and Water Corporation’s legal rights and

obligations as well as a culture of compliance.

- Work closely with the General Counsel to design, implement, maintain and continuously improve systems for legal risk monitoring, advice and

process across Power and Water Corporation,



including developing and delivering training in areas of practice identified to improve the capability
of the organisation.

- Researching and maintaining a current knowledge base of all relevant legislation affecting Power and Water Corporation and ensuring that

relevant areas are informed of new or proposed legislation or policy.
- Identifying, developing and maintaining systems and templates to support the effective and effective delivery of legal services.

Relationship Building:
• Maintaining and managing relationships with external legal advisers that support the efficient and effective provision of legal services to the

Power and Water Corporation including managing matters briefed to external lawyers.

- Establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with internal stakeholders and team members enabling an engaged and positive

workplace culture.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Qualification and Skills Experience

Essential • Admission to practice as a legal practitioner of the Supreme • Minimum 5 years’ experience, preferably in an in-house
