Position Overview

Unaccredited Cardiology Trainee Network – Temporary Full Time, 38 hours per week. Training and teaching experience in cardiology across multiple sites in the Greater Newcastle Area, including Maitland and Belmont hospitals.

Key Responsibilities

- Provide effective medical services to patients under supervision in a complex clinical environment.
- Manage inpatient and outpatient cardiology care, including non‐invasive cardiology assessments (echocardiography, stress testing, CT coronary angiography, cardiac MRI).
- Supervise, support and teach SRMO staff at Belmont and Maitland hospitals.
- Participate in research activities and contribute to teaching and clinical quality improvement.
- Collaborate within multidisciplinary teams, maintain patient confidentiality and exercise discretion in urgent or sensitive matters.
- Work within a 24‐hour shift roster and provide care across the network.

Qualifications and Experience

- MBBS or equivalent, registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.




- Minimum 4 years postgraduate experience, including 12 months as a medical officer in an Australian public hospital (completion of the physicians exam and anticipation of advanced cardiology training preferred).
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Evidence of commitment to self‐education, career development and teaching.
- Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
- Ability to work independently in a supervised complex clinical environment.
- Capable of working at facilities within the Greater Newcastle Area and participating in a 24‐hour shift roster.
