Your new company

A local government organisation is seeking a professional and customer-focused Parking Officer to join its local laws and compliance team. This is a community-facing role suited to someone who enjoys being out on the field, speaking with members of the public and helping support fair, safe and accessible use of public parking areas. This opportunity would suit candidates from hospitality, retail, customer service, compliance or other public-facing backgrounds who are confident about communicating with a wide range of people and can remain calm in challenging situations.

Your new role

As a Parking Officer, you will be responsible for supporting parking compliance across the local area while providing a professional and respectful service to the community. This is an active, outdoor role that involves spending long periods on your feet while patrolling public spaces and engaging with residents, visitors and local businesses.

Your duties may include:

- Patrolling streets, parking areas and public spaces to monitor parking compliance

- Identifying parking breaches and taking appropriate action in line with procedures

- Providing clear information to members of the public about parking rules and restrictions

- Responding to enquiries, complaints and disputes in a calm and professional manner

- Using strong communication skills to de-escalate conflict and manage difficult interactions

- Recording observations and maintaining accurate notes

- Representing the organisation professionally while working in a highly public-facing role

- Working independently in the field while contributing to a supportive compliance team

What you'll need to succeed

To be successful in this role,

you will bring a strong customer service mindset and the ability to communicate clearly, respectfully and confidently. Previous parking or compliance experience may be beneficial, but candidates from hospitality, retail or other customer-facing roles are strongly encouraged to apply.

You will need:

- Previous experience dealing directly with customers, clients or members of the public

- Robust verbal communication and interpersonal skills

- A calm and professional approach to conflict resolution and de-escalation

- Confidence handling complaints, questions or difficult conversations

- The ability to stay composed when dealing with challenging behaviour

- Good attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures

- A reliable, skilled and community-focused approach

- Comfort working outdoors and spending long periods walking or standing

- The ability to work independently and use sound judgement in the field

What you'll get in return

You will gain the opportunity to apply your customer service experience in a local government compliance setting and build valuable skills in public interaction and field operations and regulatory services.

In return, you can expect:

- A varied, active role where no two days are the same

- The opportunity to move from hospitality, retail or customer service into a compliance pathway

- A supportive team environment

- Valuable exposure to local government operations

- The chance to make a practical contribution to community safety and accessibility

- A role that suits someone who enjoys being outdoors and working with people
