Position: Safety Advisor
Employment Type: Full-time (Hybrid)

About the role
Reporting to the Head of People, Safety and Compliance, you will oversee and take accountability for health and safety across ARA Property Services. This includes driving continuous improvement of the ARA Safety Management System, demonstrating visible safety leadership, monitoring health and safety performance, developing procedures, supporting audit processes, delivering training and leading incident investigations.
As the Safety Advisor for ARA Property Services and associated entities, you will be responsible for proactively identifying, managing and mitigating health and safety risks associated with the planning, delivery and implementation of the ARA Property Services Safety Management System.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Maintain the ARA WHS Management System in accordance with ISO 45001 standards
- Provide advice and guidance to managers to uphold high safety standards, protect the health, safety and wellbeing of employees, and ensure compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory requirements
- Lead and support incident investigations and assist with the implementation of return-to-work plans
- Conduct safety inspections and site risk assessments, and review and maintain SWMS, SOP libraries, chemical registers and site safety folders
- Develop and deliver toolbox talks and other site-based safety activities to mitigate risk, improve safety performance and educate employees, business leaders and contractors on safety expectations and requirements
- Prepare reports, identify trends and recommend continuous improvement opportunities across safety practices and processes
- Develop and implement safety initiatives and campaigns that improve safety performance and align with the company’s strategic objectives, including training and safety communication initiatives
- Interstate travel may be required occasionally
About you
You will be an experienced Safety Advisor with a strong commitment to best-practice safety management. You will bring a continuous improvement mindset, sound knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations, and the ability to influence and inspire a proactive health and safety culture across the organisation.
- Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety, with Certificate IV as a minimum requirement
- Extensive experience in a comparable Health and Safety Advisor role
- Experience within the property or field-services sectors is highly desirable
- Subcontractor management experience is highly desirable
- Strong systems and process capability, including reporting, KPI monitoring, competency assurance and health surveillance
- Advanced communication, interpersonal and influencing skills
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite
- ICAM or similar certification is highly desirable
- A proactive approach to work, with initiative, a growth mindset and a willingness to undertake tasks beyond core requirements
- Return to Work Coordinator training is highly desirable
- Current valid driver’s licence
