As our Senior Civil Engineer, you'll play a key leadership role within our Darwin office, partnering with the General Manager to deliver exceptional projects, strengthen client relationships, mentor our growing team and help shape the continued success of MLEI across the Northern Territory.

About the role
Our Northern Territory team works across a diverse range of projects for government, Defence, architects, developers and private clients. Our portfolio includes roads and transport infrastructure, land development, remote community housing, community and recreational facilities, buildings, engineering assessments, feasibility studies and multidisciplinary infrastructure projects across the Territory.
This position is responsible for:
- Lead diverse civil engineering projects from concept through to construction, taking ownership of technical delivery and client outcomes
- Work alongside the General Manager to help shape the continued growth of our Northern Territory business, contributing to strategy, client relationships and new opportunities
- Build trusted partnerships with clients, councils and key stakeholders, becoming a recognised leader within the local engineering industry
- Mentor and support the development of our growing engineering team while helping foster a collaborative, high-performing culture

What you bring
To contribute confidently in this role, you will bring
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
- 6+ years' experience delivering civil infrastructure projects within Australia, preferably with exposure to the Northern Territory
- Chartered (CPEng/RPEQ/NER or equivalent) or working towards professional registration.
- Demonstrated experience leading the design and delivery of multidisciplinary civil engineering projects from concept through to construction
- Proven ability to build trusted client relationships, manage project teams and coordinate internal designers, drafters and specialist consultants
- Sound technical understanding of civil engineering design principles, relevant Australian Standards and applicable legislation
- Experience reviewing and managing civil design outputs, with an understanding of software such as 12d, AutoCAD, DRAINS and/or MUSIC (hands-on modelling experience is beneficial but not essential)
- Strong commercial awareness, including project planning, scope management and delivery to program and budget
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement
