JIVARO recruitment

Australia

- Genuine autonomy to build and own the operational strategy
- Competitive salary package
- Rapid-scaling business with an authentic brand story

Every great brand starts somewhere honest. Malosi Fishing started in a garage, with two brothers, a stack of timber, and a love of fishing passed down from their dad. What began as two blokes wanting something better than what was on the shelf, handcrafting their own timber lures, became a brand.

The founders have always understood something most businesses spend years trying to manufacture: a real story, told by real people who live it. As natural storytellers and content creators, they've built Malosi Fishing into a name that carries genuine weight in the Australian fishing community, not through advertising spend, but through authenticity. Ask anyone in the fishing industry, and they know Malosi.

That authenticity has become the foundation for something much bigger. From a garage to a fast-scaling business with a growing wholesale footprint, a loyal direct-to-consumer following, and a product range that's only just getting started, Malosi Fishing has proven the brand works. Now it needs the operational engine to match its ambition, domestically and into markets around the world that haven't seen it yet.

This is where you come in.

The founders are looking for an experienced Chief Operating Officer to become their trusted operational partner, someone who can take the reins on strategy execution, commercial performance and the day-to-day running of the business, so the founders can keep doing what only they can do: creating product and telling the Malosi story to the world.

This isn't a turnaround job,

and it isn't a caretaker role. It's the chance to take a brand with real cultural credibility and a proven growth trajectory, and build the commercial and operational backbone that takes it to its next chapter, with a founder team who will hand you real ownership of that mission.

As COO, you'll own the commercial and operational engine behind the brand, working closely with the founders and Board to translate a strong brand vision into disciplined execution. Your remit will include:

- Defining and driving the growth strategy that takes the business through its next phase, domestically and into untapped international markets across the US, Europe and Asia
- Leading revenue growth across wholesale and direct-to-consumer channels
- Owning budgeting, forecasting and financial performance
- Building the organisational structure and team needed to scale sustainably
- Overseeing supply chain, manufacturing and product operations as the range expands
- Leading the expansion of the brand's international distributor network, with international travel required to build and maintain those relationships
- Championing smarter systems and tools, including AI, to help a lean team punch above its weight
- Acting as a trusted commercial voice to the founders and Board,

with the confidence to challenge and the judgement to know when it's their call

This role will suit a seasoned operator who has already proven themselves as a COO, GM or senior operational leader, and who is looking for a long-term home rather than another rung on the ladder. You're someone who:

- Has genuine gravitas and commercial credibility, and can hold your own with major retail partners and international distributors
- Wants a role that will challenge and reward you for the next decade, not a two-year stepping stone
- Is comfortable operating as a trusted second to a strong, founder-led vision, rather than seeking to lead that vision yourself
- Brings strong commercial and financial acumen, with a track record of scaling businesses
- Feels a genuine pull toward the outdoors, fishing or adventure lifestyle, and understands why brands built on real stories win

This role suits someone who finds genuine satisfaction in being the operational force behind a founder's vision rather than needing to own that vision themselves. The founders will remain the creative heart of Malosi Fishing; the opportunity here is to build a lasting legacy as the operator who took their brand to its next level, with genuine autonomy, real influence, and uncapped potential to grow the business over the next ten years.

If you're a seasoned COO looking for your next ten years, not your next two, and a brand story worth being part of, we'd love to hear from you.
