Public Sector People are partnering with a local council in Melbourne's northern suburbs to recruit an experienced Planning and Building Support Officer for an immediate temporary opportunity through to 31 December 2026.

We are looking for a proactive and customer-focused administration professional with previous local government experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced statutory environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive team and contribute to the delivery of planning and building services to the community.

Key Responsibilities

- Respond to customer enquiries via email, telephone, post and face-to-face counter service.
- Process planning and building applications, lodgements, referrals and permit documentation.
- Compile and prepare reports, submissions and correspondence for customers, residents, ratepayers and key stakeholders.




- Maintain accurate records and provide administrative support to the Planning and Building teams.
- Ensure documentation is processed efficiently and in accordance with relevant legislation and Council procedures.
- Deliver high-quality customer service while managing competing priorities.

Key Criteria:

- Previous experience working within a local council environment.
- Strong administration and customer service experience, including face-to-face customer service.
- Demonstrated understanding of statutory planning and/or building legislation within a Council setting.
- Experience using Property and Rating systems and/or TRIM (highly regarded).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional approach to customer service.
