The Opportunity

CCGT is looking for an Apprentice Grounds & Maintenance Officer to join a not-for-profit aged care provider in West Gosford. No previous grounds maintenance experience is needed. You just need to be reliable, respectful and ready to learn.

You will be employed by Central Coast Group Training (CCGT) and placed with the Host Employer for your day-to-day work. CCGT will support you throughout your apprenticeship while you complete a nationally recognised Certificate III in Parks and Gardens.

This is a full-time role, working 38 hours per week. Standard hours are generally 7:30am to 3:36pm. Uniform is provided.

What You’ll Actually Be Doing
Your first few months will focus on learning workplace safety, getting familiar with gardening tools and equipment, and helping the team with daily grounds maintenance tasks.

As your skills grow, you’ll start learning how to:

- Mow and whipper snip lawns and outdoor areas
- Plant, mulch and prune gardens
- Maintain garden beds, lawns and outdoor spaces
- Keep outdoor areas clean, safe and welcoming
- Use gardening tools and equipment safely
- Work respectfully around residents,



staff and visitors
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures
- Support the team with general grounds and maintenance tasks

You will not be expected to know everything on day one. The goal is to listen, ask questions and keep improving.

After your apprenticeship, career pathways may include Qualified Parks and Gardens Tradesperson, Grounds Maintenance Officer, Gardener, Landscape Maintenance Worker or Horticulture Worker.

- Have a driver’s licence
- Have reliable transport to get to and from West Gosford

Any mowing, gardening, outdoor work, volunteering, school projects, sport or helping family all count. Include anything that shows you are reliable, practical and willing to have a go.

Pay
This is a paid, full-time apprenticeship. Current first-year apprentice rates are:

- $ 14.73 per hour, or approximately $559.55 per week for Under 21, not completed Year 12
- $16.20 per hour, or approximately $615.51 per week for Under 21, not completed Year 12

Rates are before tax and based on 38 ordinary hours per week. Your exact rate will depend on the applicable apprenticeship classification and will be confirmed before an employment offer is made. Superannuation and any applicable overtime, penalty rates and allowances are paid in addition. Once qualified your earning capacity can be up to $115,000
