About the role
DT Infrastructure is seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join DT Infrastructure and Alstom in delivering the $1.6B contract for Perth's High Capacity Signalling Project. The project includes the design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of the new Automatic Train Control System to replace the existing signalling and train control systems in Perth.
Reporting to Engineering Manager, this role is responsible for reviewing the designs and provide technical support to the project team and consultants. Key responsibilities include:
- Assist to develop conceptual alignment design to an advanced stage such that outline design is workable, constructible, and cost effective to achieve the objective of the privatization proposal
- Coordinate on design related issues with Operation Team, Commercial, other D&T; sub-disciplines and Design Consultant
- Coordinate and manage timely response to Technical Query from Operation Team
- Coordinate with Design Consultant regards to engineering drawings and technical documents deliverable
- Supervision of alignment design engineers, interns and draughtsman
- Attend to technical matters on site by developing solutions to problems with the application of engineering concepts, practices and techniques.
- Plan for work and resources with particular reference to work program to ensure timely progress.
Experience and capabilities
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline
- Eligibility for or working towards Engineers Australia Chartered Status (CPEng/RPEQ) preferred.
- Rail Industry Worker (RIW) accreditation (preferred but not mandatory).
- 5+ years' experience in rail design engineering
- Experience with Australian rail projects (e.g., PTA WA, ARTC, NSW, MTM, QR) highly regarded.
- Knowledge of Safety in Design, WHS, and ISO 9001 quality management systems.
- Demonstrated understanding of engineering and design processes, encompassing all aspects of project delivery, with a keen awareness of contractual requirements
- Strong technical knowledge of engineering principles e.g. Civil, Electrical, Building Services, Comms, OT, or Signalling etc.
- Proficiency with design software (Micro Station, AutoCAD, etc).
- Ability to work collaboratively with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
