Shire Family Medical is a family owned, AGPAL accredited general practice in Sutherland, led by Dr Louis Traynor and registered nurse Rebel Traynor. We provide patient centred care to individuals and families across the Sutherland Shire, with a strong focus on continuity, teaching and clinical excellence.

We are seeking a GPT3 registrar to join our team for their advanced training term, with the depth of supervision and case mix to genuinely extend your capability before Fellowship.

Supervision and support

Registrars are never without a safety net. Supervision is provided by a broad panel of experienced, vocationally registered GPs, with a supervisor onsite and contactable throughout every consulting session, plus phone backup whenever you are seeing patients. Regular formal teaching, case review and clinical debriefing are built into the week, alongside an informal, ask anytime culture.

Practice owner Dr Louis Traynor is a dual trained specialist emergency physician (FACEM), fellowed in both adult and paediatric emergency medicine, and brings this depth of acute and paediatric experience directly into registrar supervision and teaching.

Breadth of experience

Our VR GPs bring genuine diversity in background, clinical interests and expertise, giving registrars exposure to a wide range of presentations and approaches well beyond a single supervisor model. Combined with on site services including women's health, men's health, urgent care, clinician-performed ultrasound, paediatrics, skin checks, iron infusions,



travel medicine and our BRAVE Clinic for needle phobic patients, registrars gain a broad and clinically rich scope of practice.

What we are looking for

Currently undertaking GPT3, AHPRA-registered and eligible to work in Australia, with a genuine interest in whole of family general practice and a cooperative, keen to learn approach.

About the Practice/ Company

Shire Family Medical is a family owned, AGPAL accredited general practice in Sutherland, led by Dr Louis Traynor and registered nurse Rebel Traynor. As locals and parents themselves, they have built the practice around one idea: patients deserve to feel heard, supported and genuinely cared for over time.

Now in its eleventh year serving the Sutherland Shire, the practice has grown to a team of eight doctors, supported by an experienced nursing team, a dietitian and dedicated reception and admin staff. Care is patient centred and spans every life stage, from newborns to older patients.

The practice offers more than twenty services on site, including general GP care, women's health, men's health, children's health and immunisations, skin checks, travel medicine, iron infusions and on site pathology. Specialised clinics include the BRAVE Clinic for patients with blood test anxiety and needle phobia, and an aesthetic medicine and hyperhidrosis clinic.

Located on Flora Street, 200m from Sutherland Station, the practice is open six days a week, Monday to Saturday, with waiting areas and consulting rooms designed to feel calm and welcoming. New patients are welcome, and the practice runs on a mixed billing model.
