Shire Family Medical is a busy, family run, general practice in Sutherland, owned and led by Dr Louis Traynor and registered nurse Rebel Traynor. We are looking for a vocationally registered GP to join our growing team, working on a mixed billing basis.

Patient demand at Shire Family Medical is currently very high, and we are actively seeking additional doctors to meet it. You will be joining a genuinely diverse patient base, from young families to older patients, across a wide range of presentations and needs, supported by our broad range of on site services including women's health, men's health, paediatrics, skin checks, iron infusions, travel medicine and our BRAVE Clinic for needle phobic patients.

Ours is a team oriented practice. Our GPs work alongside and support one another, rather than working in isolation, and our owners are hands on and genuinely invested in the wellbeing and success of every doctor on the team. Care here is patient centred, with a strong focus on continuity and building long term relationships with patients and their families.

What we are looking for

Vocationally registered, AHPRA registered and eligible to work in Australia, with a genuine interest in whole of family general practice and a cooperative, team focused approach.

Shire Family Medical is a family run, AGPAL accredited general practice in Sutherland,



owned and led by Dr Louis Traynor and registered nurse Rebel Traynor. As locals and parents themselves, Louis and Rebel have built the practice around one idea: patients deserve to feel heard, supported and genuinely cared for over time.

Now in its eleventh year serving the Sutherland Shire, the practice has grown significantly, supported by an experienced nursing team, a dietitian and dedicated reception and admin staff. Care is patient-centred and team oriented, with doctors working alongside one another and supporting one another day to day, rather than operating in isolation.

The practice offers more than twenty services on site, including general GP care, women's health, men's health, children's health and immunisations, skin checks, minor surgery, travel medicine, iron infusions and on site pathology. Specialised clinics include the BRAVE Clinic for patients with blood test anxiety and needle phobia, and an aesthetic medicine and hyperhidrosis clinic. This breadth of services attracts a genuinely diverse patient mix, from young families to older patients, across a wide range of clinical needs.

Located on Flora Street, 200m from Sutherland Station, the practice is open six days a week, Monday to Saturday. The practice runs on a mixed billing model, and patient demand is currently very strong, with the practice consistently busy and actively growing its doctor numbers to meet demand.
